WHO ARE WE?
ShutterSociety.HYD is a non-commercial photography community based in Hyderabad, built by photographers who believe that learning grows stronger when knowledge is shared freely, friendships are formed naturally, and every photographer feels welcomed like family. What started as a simple idea has grown into a community where hundreds of passionate photographers come together to explore, learn, create, and inspire one another through the shared love of photography.
Our journey officially began with our very first photowalk on the first Sunday of 2025, 5th January 2025, but the vision behind the community started much earlier. ShutterSociety.HYD was founded by Anvesh Patel, alongside Co-founders Mr. Sai Tejeshwar Rao and Mr. Cherry Mokka, with a simple vision of building a non-commercial photography community where photographers could learn, connect, and grow together like one family.
Today, what began with just three passionate photographers is proudly driven by hundreds of passionate photographers, and that is our biggest pride. The founders simply take care of the platform, while the community belongs to every member who joins with the same passion and is proudly driven by its people, not just by its admins.
Our story is still being written, and we are grateful for every member who has become part of it. We invite you to explore the chapters of our journey so far and discover how ShutterSociety.HYD began, the vision that inspired it, and the milestones that have shaped our community along the way.

We proudly remain a non-commercial photography community where learning is shared freely, every photographer is welcomed like family, and photography becomes a way of giving back to society through meaningful acts of kindness. At the same time, we believe our passion should extend beyond the community by collaborating with schools, colleges, and universities to inspire and prepare the next generation of creators.

Our Meetups & Photowalks:
From the very beginning, the three founders made a promise to our community: no matter how busy our professional lives became, we would organize at least one thoughtfully planned meetup every month. Instead of chasing quantity, we chose to invest our time and effort into creating experiences that are purposeful, well organized, and truly memorable. We believe that one meaningful meetup filled with learning, creativity, and lasting memories is far more valuable than many without direction.
At the same time, ShutterSociety.HYD is never limited to our official meetups alone. Our WhatsApp community remains open for members to connect, suggest locations, form small groups, and organize their own photography outings throughout the month. We encourage every member to take initiative, explore together, and keep the spirit of photography alive beyond our scheduled events.
Photography gives us a reason to meet. Community gives us a reason to return.
Over time, our journey has grown far beyond regular photowalks. From street photography, heritage walks, and vibrant festival celebrations to drone photowalks, photography talks, exhibitions, Women’s Day celebrations, our first motorcycle expedition, our first one day bus trip, online training workshops and many more creative experiences, every meetup has added a unique chapter to our story while bringing passionate photographers together through learning, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

The greatest achievement of a photography community is not the number of photographs it creates, but the number of lives it inspires.
Our Impact Beyond Photography:
Beyond organizing meetups, what difference has ShutterSociety.HYD actually made?
Photography may be what brings people to ShutterSociety.HYD, but the impact often goes far beyond the camera. Over time, we have seen strangers become close friends, beginners discover confidence, and many people reconnect with a passion they had forgotten. Every meetup reminds us that sometimes all a person needs is a welcoming community, genuine conversations, and a reason to step outside and smile again.
A few members later shared with us that being part of this community helped them move away from suicidal thoughts during difficult periods of their lives.
Others told us that regularly joining our meetups, meeting positive people, and following their passion for photography helped them come out of emotional struggles and difficult phases that they had been silently carrying for a long time. These stories are never counted in photographs, but they remain the greatest success our community has achieved.
The greatest impact of photography is not always the picture we capture, but the life we quietly help change along the way.
The impact can also be seen in the passion our members have discovered. Since joining ShutterSociety.HYD, more than 30 members have purchased their first cameras, 5 to 7 members have invested in drones, and many others have upgraded their photography gear to continue learning. Around 15 to 20 percent of our members have started dedicated photography pages on Instagram, taking their first steps into sharing their creativity with the world.
Mobile photographers have discovered that they belong here just as much as DSLR users, proving that passion matters far more than the camera in your hands. Watching people believe in themselves, pursue their passion, and grow together has become one of the most rewarding parts of our journey.
While photographs capture moments, communities can change lives. That is the impact we hope to continue creating with every meetup, every conversation, and every new member who chooses to become part of the ShutterSociety.HYD family.
Photography with a Purpose:
Photography has given us countless memories, friendships, and opportunities throughout our lives. From the very beginning, we believed that our journey should not end with capturing beautiful photographs. It should also create meaningful moments for the people and communities who become part of those photographs. Giving back has never been an activity for us. It has always been one of the values that defines who we are.
A photograph becomes truly meaningful when it not only captures a smile, but also becomes the reason someone smiles.
Since the very beginning, we have believed that photography should also be a way of expressing gratitude. Whether it was returning printed photographs to flower vendors during the New Year, surprising vegetable vendors with their portraits during Ugadi, presenting stoles to hardworking women vendors on International Women’s Day, gifting portrait prints to Pothurajus during Bonalu, or simply carrying biscuits to thank the artisans who warmly welcomed us into their homes in Pochampally, every gesture has come from the same belief that kindness, no matter how small, has the power to leave a lasting memory.
As ShutterSociety.HYD continues to grow, so does our commitment to giving back. Every new meetup brings fresh opportunities to create meaningful initiatives, support local communities, and remind ourselves that photography can do far more than capture beautiful moments.
We hope every photograph we create not only tells a story, but also leaves behind a smile, strengthens a community, and inspires others to use their passion to make a positive difference.
As our journey continues, we hope to create many more opportunities where photography becomes not only a way to capture life, but also a way to give something meaningful back to society.
Where Passion Meets Academia:
We believe photography should be accessible to every aspiring creator, regardless of where their journey begins. One of the core missions of ShutterSociety.HYD is to build meaningful bridges between educational institutions and the photography community by creating opportunities where students can learn, explore, connect, and grow through real world experiences.
As part of this mission, we have proudly collaborated with several of Hyderabad’s most respected educational institutions, including the University of Hyderabad, IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad, Lakhotia College of Design, Anurag University, BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, and ICFAI IBS Hyderabad Campus, with many more collaborations on the horizon.
Together, we have organized collaborative photowalks, photography talks, competitions, photo exhibitions, annual photography events, and interactive community experiences that connect students with photographers beyond their classrooms.
What makes these collaborations even more meaningful is the trust these respected institutions have placed in ShutterSociety.HYD by welcoming our non-commercial community and opening their campuses to our members. Their support reflects a shared belief that learning becomes even more powerful when education, creativity, and community come together.
When education meets passion, learning extends far beyond the classroom.
This journey is only getting started. As our community continues to grow, we remain committed to partnering with more colleges and universities, creating spaces where students can learn from one another, build lasting friendships, and experience the power of photography as a tool for creativity, storytelling, and human connection.

Our journey has always been driven by passion rather than publicity. Every meetup, collaboration, and community initiative has been organized with one simple purpose: to create meaningful experiences for photographers and make a positive impact through creativity. As our community continued to grow, these efforts naturally began to attract the attention of the media, allowing our story to reach an even wider audience.
Over time, ShutterSociety.HYD has been proudly featured by respected media organizations including ETV Bharat, Namaste Telangana, ABN Andhra Jyothi, Sakshi, and many more to come. When ShutterSociety.HYD began in January 2025, there were no milestones to celebrate. There were no members, no meetups, no collaborations, and no recognition. There was only a shared passion for photography and a simple belief that bringing people together could create something meaningful. Every connection, every meetup, every collaboration, and every achievement since then has been built from the ground up through consistency, trust, and the incredible support of our community.
The milestones presented here are not simply numbers. They represent friendships that were formed, confidence that was discovered, first cameras and drones that inspired new journeys, photographs returned to the people who made them possible, collaborations that connected classrooms with creativity, and thousands of moments shared through photography. Looking back at the first nineteen months reminds us that even the biggest journeys begin with a single idea and the courage to take the first step.
