Mar – 2026: International Women’s Day Photowalk, Celebrating by Giving Back to the Women of Monda Market, HYD
A celebration becomes even more meaningful when its happiness reaches beyond ourselves. That simple belief became the foundation of our International Women’s Day Photowalk in March 2026. Planned, organized, and led entirely by the incredible women of ShutterSociety.HYD, this was not just a day of celebration. It was a day of gratitude, kindness, photography, and giving back to the women whose hard work quietly keeps our city moving every single day.
Every woman deserves to celebrate her day in the way she enjoys, and we truly respect every form of celebration. At ShutterSociety.HYD, we wanted to add one small thought to that celebration.
Can our celebration also bring a smile to someone else?
That simple question became the beginning of one of the most meaningful initiatives in our journey, where photography, gratitude, and giving back came together through the incredible women of our own community.
The most meaningful celebrations are the ones that create happiness beyond ourselves.
The idea of celebrating International Women’s Day through a meaningful community initiative had first been discussed back in January. However, during our February Meetup, as everyone gathered over breakfast after the photowalk, the plan truly began taking shape.
It was there that Mrs. Neha Parganiha, Ms. Sai Sujitha Vaddi, and Ms. Khyathi Gorrepati came forward to volunteer and lead the entire celebration. Together, we finalized the concept, discussed different possibilities, and entrusted the complete planning and coordination of the event to them. To make the coordination easier, I made the three girls the WhatsApp Group Admins for this special event, allowing them to independently manage announcements, encourage participation, answer queries, and coordinate every small detail from start to finish.
Their dedication and leadership transformed a simple idea into a truly meaningful celebration. A special thanks also goes to Ms. Bhavana Chitta, who quietly captured the behind-the-scenes photographs and videos throughout the day, preserving every smile, every emotion, and every unforgettable moment of this beautiful initiative.
After many discussions, one destination felt perfect.
Monda Market, Secunderabad, one of Hyderabad’s oldest and busiest vegetable markets, where hundreds of hardworking women begin their day long before sunrise, spending countless hours serving families across the city with dedication and resilience.
Along with the photowalk, we wanted our celebration to leave behind something more meaningful than photographs alone.
Using the ShutterSociety.HYD Community Fund, we purchased 75 premium quality long cotton stoles as a small token of appreciation for the hardworking women vendors of Monda Market.
Every stole was carefully selected with the hope that it would not simply be received as a gift, but as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for their tireless work, strength, and contribution to society.
From the very beginning, ShutterSociety.HYD has never been just about organizing photowalks. Alongside learning photography and building friendships, we have always believed in giving back to society whenever possible, no matter how small the gesture may be. Because sometimes, a simple act of kindness can become the most meaningful photograph we never even capture.
The true beauty of a community is measured not only by what it creates, but by what it gives back.
On the morning of 8th March, around 30 women photographers gathered at our meeting point with excitement, cameras, and beautiful smiles.
After a short introduction, briefing, and group photographs, everyone slowly walked into the colourful streets of Monda Market. Fresh vegetables, busy customers, early morning light, colourful baskets, cheerful conversations, and hardworking vendors created the perfect atmosphere for documentary and street photography.
Yet this morning was about much more than creating beautiful photographs. It was about creating beautiful memories.
One by one, our women volunteers started approaching the hardworking women vendors.
With warm smiles, they wished them Happy International Women’s Day and presented each of them with a stole.
What happened next touched every one of us. Many of the women looked surprised. Several of them smiled with disbelief.
Some even asked why they were receiving a gift. Many of them quietly shared that they didn’t even know that day was International Women’s Day.
For them, it was simply another morning of hard work. That realization made every small gesture feel even more meaningful.
The happiest moments are often found in the smiles we create for others.
As each stole was placed around their shoulders, smiles slowly turned into emotions.
Some women folded their hands with gratitude. Some offered heartfelt blessings.
One elderly vendor became so emotional that she thanked our volunteers with folded hands and happy tears in her eyes.
It was one of those moments where cameras quietly captured emotions that words could never fully describe. Photography preserves memories. Kindness creates them.
As the morning continued, something unexpected began happening.
Women working in nearby lanes noticed the celebration and slowly started walking towards our group, wondering what was taking place. Seeing the joy on the faces of their fellow vendors naturally filled them with excitement as well. Those few moments beautifully showed how a small act of kindness can spread happiness far beyond the people it was originally meant for.
Alongside the giving back initiative, our members continued documenting the market through their cameras. Beautiful portraits, candid smiles, hardworking hands, colourful vegetable stalls, soft morning light, and everyday life blended together into a collection of photographs that carried both visual beauty and genuine human emotion.
A photograph may last forever, but kindness stays in people’s hearts even longer.
After completing the distribution, everyone gathered once again to share their experiences.
Many members admitted that this was their first time participating in a social giving initiative through photography. They spoke about how different the morning had felt, not because of the photographs they had captured, but because of the emotions they had experienced.
It reminded us once again that photography has the power to do much more than preserve moments.
It can also build human connections.
Before concluding the meetup, everyone captured a few more group photographs, celebrating not only International Women’s Day but also the beautiful purpose that had brought everyone together.
Later, those who could stay gathered for breakfast at a nearby tiffin restaurant. Around the tables, conversations continued with laughter, heartfelt reflections, new friendships, and countless stories from the morning. For many members, this was their first experience of combining photography with a meaningful act of giving back, and it became one of the most memorable discussions we have ever shared together.
As everyone reflected on the morning, one feeling was common among the group. We had captured beautiful portraits, colourful market scenes, and unforgettable moments, but the most valuable memory was something no camera could fully capture, the joy of giving without expecting anything in return.
It reminded us why some experiences stay in our hearts long after the photographs have been edited and shared.
Looking back, this morning represented something much bigger than a Women’s Day celebration. It reflected the values on which ShutterSociety.HYD continues to grow.
We have always believed that photography can do more than capture beautiful moments. It can bring people together, inspire compassion, create meaningful connections, and become a small bridge between creativity and kindness.
Every social initiative reminds us that our cameras are not only tools for storytelling, but also opportunities to make a positive difference, no matter how small that difference may be.
A community becomes truly meaningful when it not only creates memories, but also creates moments that matter.
By the time everyone started heading home, the cameras were full of beautiful photographs, but more importantly, every heart carried memories that would stay far longer than any image.
