June – 2026: Giving Back at Pochampally, A Heartfelt Thank You to the People Behind Our Photographs
Photography allows us to capture beautiful moments, preserve traditions, and tell meaningful stories. But behind every photograph is a person who welcomes us into their world with trust, kindness, and generosity. At ShutterSociety.HYD, we believe that every journey should leave behind more than just memories. It should leave behind gratitude.

Photography gives us the opportunity to witness places, traditions, and people that many never get to experience. Every time someone welcomes us into their home or workplace, they are sharing a part of their life with us.
At ShutterSociety.HYD, we believe that such trust should never be taken for granted. While photographs preserve memories, gratitude preserves relationships, and that belief became the foundation of our Giving Back initiative at Pochampally.
Leadership is not measured by the events we organize, but by the values we choose to leave behind.
The idea was born long before the official trip. During our initial scouting visit to Pochampally, our volunteer team spent time meeting artisans, documenting their work, and understanding the stories behind the famous Ikat tradition. As we looked back at those photographs, one thought stayed with us.
These memories deserved to be shared with the very people who had made them possible. That simple thought soon became a promise, and we decided that when we returned with our community, we would carry printed photographs back to the people who had welcomed us so warmly.
As the preparations continued, another thought came to my mind. We were travelling all the way from Hyderabad, and dozens of families would once again open their homes and workplaces for us.
A photograph alone felt incomplete. I wanted our visit to leave behind something that reflected our appreciation. That is when we decided to carry boxes of Karachi Fruit Biscuits as a small token of gratitude. It was never about the value of the gift. It was simply our way of saying thank you.
It was never planned as charity.
It was planned as respect.
The reactions we witnessed throughout the day were moments none of us will ever forget. Many artisans looked at their printed photographs with genuine surprise, quickly calling family members to see them. Smiles filled the rooms as memories from our earlier visit came back to life. Conversations became warmer, doors opened even wider, and every home welcomed us as if we were returning friends rather than first time visitors.
Few families generously offered us refreshments, patiently demonstrated every step of the weaving process, and proudly shared stories of a craft that has been passed down through generations. Those simple moments transformed the entire experience into something far more meaningful than a photography trip.
When gratitude is shared with sincerity, strangers become friends and photographs become lasting memories.
One conversation from that day will always stay with us. A few senior artisans, who had spent more than four decades preserving the Pochampally Ikat tradition, shared that many photographers and photography groups had visited their village over the years.
They had welcomed countless cameras, watched thousands of photographs being taken, and seen many visitors come and go.
But they told us that this was the first time a photography community had returned with printed photographs and thoughtful gifts simply to express gratitude.
They said those photographs would remain treasured memories for their families, and their heartfelt blessings reminded us that even the smallest act of kindness can leave a lasting impression far beyond the photographs themselves.
One of the most memorable additions to our Giving Back initiative came from Mr. Chandu, who brought along an instant photo printer during the trip. Watching photographs being printed on the spot created moments of pure joy.
We were able to immediately hand over freshly printed portraits to several artisans and families, making those interactions even more personal and unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Chandu for bringing this wonderful idea to life and adding another beautiful chapter to our Giving Back journey.
This initiative would not have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers and every participant who embraced the spirit of giving with genuine enthusiasm.
Together, our community proved that photography is not only about creating beautiful images but also about building meaningful human connections, respecting the people behind every story, and leaving every place with gratitude.
The most meaningful photograph is not always the one we take. Sometimes, it is the one we return with gratitude.
