Feb – 2025: Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazar HYD Photowalk, Chasing Morning Light and Street Stories
Our very first meetup had just come to an end, but the conversations hadn’t. Before we even realized it, members had already started asking about the next photowalk. We knew we had created something people were genuinely looking forward to. So, in February 2025, it was time to meet again.
On a pleasant Sunday morning at 8:00 AM, we gathered once again, this time at Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazar. Just like our very first meetup, we were delighted to see many new faces joining the community. Every new participant received a temporary ShutterSociety.HYD ID card, making them part of our growing photography family from the very first moment.
Before stepping into the market, we gathered everyone for a quick briefing. Since Rythu Bazar is covered with colorful yellow, blue, and white plastic sheets, we explained how these different light sources could completely change the mood and color of a photograph.
We shared a few basic street photography tips, recommended using prime lenses wherever possible, and most importantly, reminded everyone that the market was just opening for the day.
The vegetable vendors were busy arranging their stalls before customers arrived, so we requested everyone to respect their time, space, and work while photographing.
During the same briefing, I also shared another important purpose behind this meetup. From the day we started ShutterSociety.HYD, one of our biggest dreams was to use photography as a way of giving something back to society.
I requested everyone that, if they came across a beautiful candid moment or a meaningful portrait of a vegetable vendor, they should capture it and send us the original photograph after the meetup.
We had already planned that during the upcoming Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, we would return to the same market with printed photographs and personally gift them to those vendors as a small gesture of gratitude and respect for their hard work. Everyone appreciated the idea, and many photographers became excited to be part of this small social initiative.
Mar – 2025: Celebrating Ugadi by Giving Back Through Photo Prints to Rythu Bazaar Vendors
The best photographs begin with respect, long before the shutter is pressed.
A few days earlier, I had personally visited the Rythu Bazar office and met the market manager to explain who we were, why we wanted to organize a photowalk there, and the purpose behind our community.
They appreciated the idea of a non-commercial photography community and warmly gave us permission to conduct the meetup. Thanks to their support, everything went smoothly that morning.
With cameras in hand, we slowly walked into the vibrant morning market.
Every corner had a different story waiting to be captured. Some photographers chased the beautiful rays of morning light filtering through the colorful plastic sheets.
Others focused on genuine smiles, hardworking hands, fresh vegetables, everyday conversations, and countless candid moments that most people would normally walk past.
Like every ShutterSociety.HYD meetup, learning happened naturally.
Experienced photographers happily guided beginners. Mobile photographers explored Pro Mode for both photography and videography.
Camera users discussed lenses, composition, exposure, and framing. Different photographers shared their own shooting styles and creative approaches, while others exchanged simple tips that had helped them improve over time.
It was wonderful to see beginners asking questions without hesitation and experienced photographers happily sharing their knowledge. Nobody was teaching from a stage. Everyone was learning from one another while walking through the market together.
Photography grows faster when knowledge is shared, not kept.
After nearly two hours of exploring, we gathered once again at our original meeting point.
Everyone eagerly started sharing their favorite photographs, creative experiences, funny moments, and the stories behind the frames they had captured. Every meetup reminded us that photography wasn’t just about creating better images. It was also about creating better conversations.
Many participants also showed us the beautiful candid moments and portraits they had captured of the vegetable vendors and were excited to submit them for printing. Their enthusiasm made us even more confident that our Giving Back initiative would become something truly meaningful. As always, the meetup didn’t really end after photography.
Most of us walked together for breakfast, where conversations continued over delicious food and countless cups of tea. People introduced their work, shared their Instagram pages, exchanged photography experiences, and spoke about their creative journeys.
Since I had recently returned from documenting the Maha Kumbh 2025, many members were curious to know what it was like to witness and photograph the world’s largest spiritual gathering. We spent a good time discussing the experience, the challenges, the stories behind the photographs, and everything I had learned during that unforgettable journey.
Every photowalk teaches us photography. The best ones also teach us humanity.
By the time breakfast was over, it was finally time to head home. Cameras were packed away, but conversations continued all the way to the parking lot. As we said goodbye, many members were already smiling and asking, “Where are we meeting next?”
