Sep – 2025: The 3 KM Tank Bund Morning Photowalk, Chasing Morning Light
After months of documenting Hyderabad’s vibrant festivals, it was time to return to where photography often begins, the streets. No loud celebrations, no processions, just a peaceful morning, good company, and cameras in hand. As September 2025 arrived, our community gathered for a 3 KM morning photowalk along Tank Bund, ready to welcome the first light of the day and discover the simple stories that quietly unfold on the streets every morning.
By now, Mr. Sai Thejeshwar Rao, Mr. Cherry Mokka, and I had developed a small tradition after every meetup. A few members would always stay back until the very end, and instead of saying goodbye immediately, we would simply sit together and ask one question, Where should we go next? Those conversations became one of the biggest reasons our community continued to grow in the right direction. Rather than planning meetups only from our own ideas, we listened to our members and understood what they genuinely wanted to experience.

For September, one suggestion kept coming up again and again. Instead of another festival or a crowded street, why not have a simple morning where we could just walk, talk, learn, and photograph together? The idea instantly connected with all of us.
With a little planning, we decided on a 3 KM morning photowalk around one of Hyderabad’s most iconic locations, Tank Bund, Hussain Sagar, Necklace Road, and the Buddha Statue surroundings.
It offered everything we were looking for: peaceful morning light, beautiful lake views, gardens to sit and interact, plenty of breakfast options, and countless everyday street stories waiting to be photographed.
As the morning arrived, photographers gathered at the meeting point full of energy and excitement. I could not personally attend this meetup because I was away from Hyderabad. However, Mr. Sai Thejeshwar Rao, Mr. Cherry Mokka, and our amazing team of volunteers ensured that every participant felt welcomed from the very beginning. Like every meetup, many first time members had joined, and the team personally guided them through the basics of street photography, composition, observation, and how to confidently approach everyday scenes.
Photography is the art of noticing what others simply walk past.

Soon the walk began. Without any fixed destination or pressure to create the perfect photograph, everyone simply enjoyed the journey. Conversations naturally flowed between photographers, small groups formed and changed along the way, and every few steps someone would stop after discovering an interesting frame hidden in the ordinary. The beauty of a morning photowalk is that nobody rushes. Every street, every shadow, every reflection, and every passerby has the potential to become a memorable photograph.
Walk slowly. The best photographs rarely appear to people who are in a hurry.
Throughout the walk, participants captured the golden sunrise over Hussain Sagar, the vibrant street life along Tank Bund Road, the flora and fauna around the lake, creative panning shots of moving vehicles, and Hyderabad’s iconic landmarks, including the Telangana State Secretariat, the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Statue, and the Telangana Amaraveerula Smarakam.
More than just a photowalk, it became a morning of observation. Everyone was encouraged to slow down, notice small details, and appreciate how much beauty exists in places we pass every day. Sometimes the best photograph was not the biggest monument, but a quiet smile, a reflection on the water, or a simple moment shared between strangers.

By the time the group completed the three kilometre walk, nobody realized how quickly the morning had passed. Between the conversations, laughter, photography, and learning, time quietly disappeared. Those who had joined for the very first time no longer felt like newcomers. By the end of the walk, they had already become part of the conversations, exchanged contacts, and started building friendships that would continue into future meetups.
The camera introduces you to people long before conversation does.
One thing had become very clear by this stage of our journey. At ShutterSociety.HYD, it never mattered whether someone used a mobile phone or a professional camera. It never mattered whether they had ten years of experience or were picking up a camera for the very first time. Every photographer brought a different perspective, and every perspective added something valuable to the community. That belief continues to remain at the heart of every meetup we organize.

Thank you to every member who woke up early, joined us, shared your knowledge, encouraged fellow photographers, and made this peaceful morning another memorable chapter in our journey. Sometimes the best memories are created not during the biggest festivals, but during the quiet walks in between. We look forward to sharing many more sunrises, conversations, and photographs together.
