Jan – 2026: Our First Media Recognition, ShutterSociety.HYD’s First Birthday Celebration Featured by ETV Bharat
Every community hopes to make a meaningful impact. Sometimes, that impact quietly reaches far beyond the people who are part of it. In January 2026, the journey of ShutterSociety.HYD reached a new milestone when our story was featured by ETV Bharat, marking our very first media recognition.
Our first birthday celebration at Charminar became much more than a community gathering. Held exactly one year after our very first meetup on the first Sunday of January 2025, it was a beautiful opportunity to return to where the journey had begun.
We celebrated the occasion with a morning street photography walk through the historic lanes of Charminar, followed by cake cutting, tea, conversations, drone photographs, and heartfelt moments shared together on a terrace overlooking the monument. More than 140 passionate photographers came together to celebrate not just a birthday, but an entire year of friendship, learning, and community.

As our celebration continued on the terrace overlooking Charminar, representatives from ETV Bharat joined us to document the occasion. They interacted with our members, captured the joyful atmosphere, recorded interviews, and learned about the journey of ShutterSociety.HYD from its very first meetup to becoming one of Hyderabad’s fastest growing non commercial photography communities.
For us, this recognition was never about appearing in the news. It was about seeing the values we had quietly followed throughout our first year being noticed beyond our own community.
Recognition becomes meaningful when it reflects the purpose behind the journey.

ETV Bharat highlighted how ShutterSociety.HYD had brought together hundreds of photographers from across Hyderabad through free photography meetups, where beginners, professionals, mobile photographers, and camera photographers all learned together without barriers.
The coverage also spoke about our efforts to showcase Hyderabad’s heritage and culture through photography, while regularly giving back to society by returning printed photographs to vendors, workers, and the people who unknowingly became part of our stories.
Along with publishing the news article, ETV Bharat also released a video covering our first anniversary celebration at Charminar, allowing many more people to witness the joyful atmosphere, conversations, interviews, and memorable moments shared that morning.

This memorable media recognition became possible because of one of our senior photographers and regular community members, Mr. Firdaus Mistri, who took the initiative to invite ETV Bharat to cover our celebration. His thoughtful effort helped introduce the journey of ShutterSociety.HYD to an even wider audience, making this milestone even more special for all of us.
A strong community grows because its members step forward, not because they are asked to.
A community should always be driven by its people, not just by its admins. Every member has something valuable to contribute, whether it is a new idea, volunteering during an event, creating opportunities, or simply helping another photographer learn. As admins, our role has always been to listen, encourage, and provide the right environment where those ideas can grow into reality. This recognition was another reminder that when a community grows together, every contribution becomes part of its success.
The strongest stories are written by communities that grow together.
We sincerely thank ETV Bharat for recognising our journey and sharing our story with a wider audience. Our heartfelt thanks also go to Mr. Firdaus Mistri for making this opportunity possible and to every ShutterSociety.HYD member whose passion, dedication, and support helped build the community that the world began to notice.
